Sopping Wet

It had been raining here for days, and Axel really wanted to get out and help in the yard. So, we bundled up and headed out. He had so much fun crawling around in the puddles and playing with the wet leaves. After about 10 minutes, Axel was sopping wet and starting to feel cold around the edges, so we went in and took a nice, hot shower.
It is so exciting that Axel is getting big wnough to explore outside more freely. He doesn't automatically put everything in his mouth, so I feel much more comfortable letting him down. Hopefully, we will have our back yard done in time for lots of playing outside in the spring.

Uh Oh!

I think we have a rebel on our hands!

Pay no attention to the snotty nose.

Playtime

Axel mostly likes to follow Mommy around the house getting into our cabinets and other things rather than his own toys. He prefers to play with his toys when I or Daddy is in his room with him, but he doesn't really care for me to play with him. I think he just likes my presence while he figures things out on his own. Daddy, on the other hand, is VERY fun to play with.
Axel loves to throw all of his books on the floor........

.......and eat them.

We have lots of colorful buckets, that we stack to make a tower or fill with other toys.

The smaller pieces are Axel's favorite. He likes to keep them in his grip, as he crawls around the house following me.

The face of the sweetest little boy I know.

Painting with Food

I had planned on cooking this beet and feeding it to Axel for dinner, but it just didn't seem right. It wasn't cooking like I thought it should. So, I decided he would paint with the beautiful color instead.
He did eat a piece, and he actually did not seem to mind it all that much.

This is the extent of his use of the paintbrush.

Axel had a fun time making pretty pictures, while I was making dinner.

The finished piece is just beautiful. I think it will make a nice valentine's day card for someone special in Axel's life.
It turns out the beet just needed a little more boiling to be edible. Maybe we'll try it again next week.

2010

Look Mommy, I found my curtains!
Just one more way Axel can avoid taking his nap. Playing with and chewing on the curtains.
Here's to many new adventures in the coming year. Happy New Year!

Axel's First Christmas

Christmas Eve, we went to my parents' house like we always do. It was an evening of yummy food, the reading of the story of Jesus' birth and the opening of some gifts. This was Axel's first time seeing presents. He was a bit perplexed, but liked the crinkly paper. We had to fish bits of it from his mouth several times. Axel received a fun toy from Grandma and Grandpa. Now he has something colorful and noisy to play with whenever he goes to their house. My mom also made him the sweetest blanket and pillow. I just adore them. More to come on that at a later time.
Christmas morning, we woke up and looked at our tree with no gifts under it. Axel loved it just the same.
We then went to Ram's parents' house for Christmas Day. We ate a great breakfast and opened more gifts. The kids had a lot of fun. It gave us a little taste of what Chistmas will be like as we keep adding to the number of kids in the family.

It was quite a challenge to get a good photo without one of the babies being blurry. Cousins B and B just added tp the fun of the day.

What a fun day!

The same went for the family shot. I think it will be years before we have a shot where something isn't blurry.
We had such a great First Christmas with Axel. I am looking forward to many Christmases with my little family.
