First Swim Lesson

Axel started swim lessons in July. I found a really nice guy named Tod, who does the lessons at his house with just a few kids in each class. Ram did Axel's first lesson with him since he had the day off. I am now going with Axel to class. It is so nice to get in some water for a bit every couple days.
We play with toys and try to swim to them. The goal is to kick to the toys.
So far, Axel does not see any need to kick his legs.

He does love the water.

Then, after grabbing on to the side of the pool, Axel sits on the side. on the count of three, he leans forward for Daddy to pull him into the pool. He is now going under water with this step.

The kids like to ride on "Mr. Duck" and the jump off into the pool when the song is done.

I always felt like Axel liked the water, even when he was in my belly. I look forward to watching him swim and love the water as he grows up.

4th of July 2010

A friend and coworker of Ram kindly invited us for a weekend at their home in Donner/Truckee for the 4th of July Weekend. It was so nice to get away for a few nights. The weather was as beautiful as the setting. I really wish we would take advantage of our beautiful mountains more often. Hmmm, maybe we need to have a house up there........

Axel tasted and loved his very first berry pie. Thank you Ikeda's.

We walked to a reservoir where the water was low and mud was all along the shore. Axel didn't seem to mind. He ended up changing into his swimming clothes for the walk back, after his walking clothes were caked in mud.

Don't we look cute, or goofy, in our hats?

Axel had fun exploring the shore where he found pine trees, rocks and a frog eating snake-pictured at the end of this post.

We took another walk the last day through the wooded area near the house. It was so pretty. The flowers were in bloom......

The boys had fun walking a bit on the trail.....
Pokey pine cones were found.....
So was the powdery dirt on the trail....

And here's the snake that Axel almost sat on. We watched it eat up the frog until it was traveling through it's abdomen. A good National geographic moment.
We had a great weekend.
