Playdough

What would I have missed out on if I had not allowed my kids to play with the playdough the way they wanted to.  I have always had the notion that you don't smash the different colors together, because it ruins the dough.  What was I thinking?

As we were playing playdough one day, I rolled out this piece.  I was taken aback by its beauty.  I tried to capture it with a photo, but, of course, it fell short.  It looks like a planet to me, or just a swirl of beautiful color.  This small piece of dough took my breath away as I was reminded of the beauty we miss in so many small things in life.  The beauty we can miss if we don't allow our children to break the rules of how we think something should be done, like mixing the playdough colors.
